SAINT IGNATIUS OF LOYOLA PARISH CHURCH - Capul Island, Northern Samar
commonly known as Capul Church or Fuerza de Capul—is a historic Spanish-era fortress church, declared a National Cultural Treasure in 2014.
Established as a Jesuit mission station in 1596 and rebuilt in robust stone after Moro raids, the church’s current iteration—with thick perimeter walls, bastions, and an 11-meter bell tower—was completed in 1781 under Father Mariano Valero, making it both a place of worship and a refuge.
